One of the most intricate aspects of *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* is the Synthesis mechanic, which is integral to nearly every facet of the game. From collecting resources to crafting weapons, everything revolves around Synthesis. Here’s how to master it.
In *Atelier Yumia*, there are three distinct types of Synthesis:

Regular Synthesis at altars is the most complex form of Synthesis in *Atelier Yumia*. To craft an item like a gun staff for Yumia, you first need to find the recipe while exploring. You can also upgrade existing recipes using particles from mana fountains at a Recipe Recall Station. Here’s how to proceed at an Alchemist’s altar:
To craft powerful items early in the game, unlock Synthesis Skills from the Synthesis section of the skill tree as soon as possible. These skills provide significant boosts to damage and quality, and allow you to duplicate items, conserving resources.
To enhance the item’s quality, add resources to all three Alchemy Cores. Use the left or right bumper to navigate between cores while filling slots. Collecting mana fragments—the yellow sparkles around an Alchemy Core—for all three cores will significantly strengthen your item. This is advisable unless you’re crafting a quest-specific item.
When selecting resources, prioritize those that match the element type of the specific slots, identified by a blue outline. You can also organize your resources in the submenu to prioritize higher-quality ones, though sometimes focusing on effects might be more beneficial.
If the complexity of Synthesis feels overwhelming, opt for the auto-Synthesis option after selecting your Synthesis Skills. The game efficiently crafts the best possible item, enabling you to tackle even the final boss on Normal difficulty with relative ease.
That’s everything you need to know to maximize the Synthesis mechanic in *Atelier Yumia*.
