Bandai Namco is once again venturing into the mobile gaming arena with a new addition to the Digimon franchise: Digimon Alysion. This digital rendition of the beloved Digimon Card Game is set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play title, though an exact release date remains under wraps.
The announcement came during Digimon Con 2025, which was held on March 19th. Alongside the reveal of Digimon Alysion, Bandai Namco shared other exciting updates. Digimon Liberator is slated to continue with a new arc in April 2025. Fans also got to enjoy a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime, and a new project titled Digimon Adventure: Beyond was unveiled. Additionally, a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, is in development for consoles and PC.
It's important to note that Digimon Alysion isn't just a direct translation of the physical card game. It introduces a unique feature called 'DigiAly' cards, which are exclusive to this digital version. Alongside these, Bandai Namco is bringing in new Digimon and characters to enrich the gameplay experience.
The character lineup showcased on the game's website leans heavily towards an all-female cast, which is a departure from the norm in digital card games. This choice has sparked some skepticism among fans, particularly those who were expecting a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.
This isn't Bandai Namco's first rodeo with Digimon mobile games, however. Their previous attempts have not been successful, leading to some reservations about the potential success of Digimon Alysion. Despite this, the anticipation for the game remains high among fans.
A closed beta test is currently in the works for Digimon Alysion, though details are still scarce. For those eager to learn more, the official website and their X account are the best places to stay updated.
