Treyarch is gearing up to celebrate 115 Day with a treasure trove of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, featuring the much-anticipated reveal of a new map named The Tomb. This January 15 celebration is a significant event for the Call of Duty community, offering a comprehensive blog breakdown detailing all the zombie-themed surprises players can anticipate in the coming months. The highlight of today's announcements is the introduction of The Tomb, a sandy new Zombies map set to debut with the launch of Season 2 on January 28. This means fans will have another exciting addition to the Zombies universe just a little over two weeks after Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.
According to a story summary from Treyarch, "After surviving the horrific events at Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya follow Gabriel Krafft's final words to a nearby excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact." The Tomb is built on ancient burial grounds with origins tracing back to 2500 B.C.E. These catacombs, undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s, are said to hold secrets that run deeper than anyone could have imagined. The map is linked to a mysterious British archeologist named Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, but Treyarch has kept details about its connection to the broader Zombies narrative under wraps.
In terms of gameplay, The Tomb promises an experience akin to Liberty Falls, the vibrant small-town map that debuted with Black Ops 6 in October. Treyarch emphasizes that this new location will offer "tighter play spaces with a focus on replayability," encouraging players to uncover the numerous Easter eggs hidden within. Additionally, the studio teases a reimagined Wonder Weapon "inspired by our past" and the return of a fan-favorite SMG, though specifics remain a mystery.
Season 2 also brings a robust set of quality-of-life enhancements, including highly requested features from the community. Players will now be able to track up to 10 Calling Card challenges and 10 Camo challenges in both Zombies and Multiplayer. Zombies mode will also introduce a co-op pause option, enabling the party leader to pause the match mid-run. Furthermore, HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separated, and players can rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout if disconnected.
### Black Ops 6 Tier List: Best Guns RankedTo mark 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players can take advantage of double GobbleGum earn rates and double player, weapon, and battle pass XP from now until 10am PT on January 21. Additionally, Treyarch has shared intriguing statistics about the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing that players have logged over 480 million hours into Black Ops 6 Zombies. "Our goal from the start for Directed Mode was simple: grow the Zombies community by guiding new players through the Main Quests with some guardrails in place, so they can experience the storyline and hopefully become lifelong Zombies fans," the team stated. "Since Directed Mode went live, our average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled, going from 3.38% on November 14 to 8.23% today."
Fans are eagerly awaiting the voices of the Zombies characters when The Tomb launches. Last month, Activision confirmed that some beloved Zombies characters have been recast due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
