How to Unlock Caldarus Events Gift Preferences ### How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To romance Caldarus in Fields of Mistria, you need to break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. You'll need to offer four items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot.

Once you complete the offering, a cutscene will trigger where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or risk being sealed with the Sealing Scroll. As your health depletes, Caldarus arrives, transforms into his human form, and leaves you with the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods. In this form, you can interact with Caldarus through gifts and daily conversations, similar to other dateable NPCs in Mistria.

After breaking the Fire Seal, you'll find Caldarus exclusively at his temple in the Deep Woods. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to unlock this area permanently on your map.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts at six hearts upon being unlocked as a romanceable character. Currently, this is the heart level cap, so there are no additional heart events for Caldarus in Fields of Mistria yet. Future updates are expected to add more events.

Currently, there are a few cutscenes involving Caldarus. The first is a dream sequence at the start of the game, introducing Mistria’s magic system and in-game mechanics. The second occurs when Caldarus saves the farmer from being sealed after breaking the Fire Seal, revealing his human form and retreating to his temple to recover. Both scenes are part of the natural story progression.

Following the March 2025 update, you can trigger a real date with Caldarus on the day of the Shooting Star Festival, which takes place on Summer 28 in Fields of Mistria.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in Fields of Mistria, allowing you to take any romanceable NPC with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. Since Caldarus starts at six hearts, you can automatically go with him. To attend the festival with Caldarus, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet up afterward to confirm your readiness to start the event. This will trigger a cutscene of your date. Spoilers ahead!

At the Summit, Caldarus thanks you for the invitation and discusses the stars and the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. You'll have several dialogue options, exploring themes of soul connections and the nature of relationships. Caldarus muses about past lives and the necessity of villains in stories, hinting at deeper lore. As the evening progresses, he invites you to watch the stars from his temple due to fatigue.
