Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still in development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
A recent wave of reports detailed Warzone games freezing or crashing while loading, leading to undeserved in-game punishments. Although the underlying bug remains unfixed, a quick patch prevents players from receiving penalties for these lobby crashes.
This latest issue adds to a challenging year for Raven Software. Following a December 2024 outage caused by an accidental update, and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs, this new problem has created further frustration. Investigations into the loading screen crashes began on January 6th, 2025.

Addressing Player Concerns
On January 9th, 2025, Raven Software announced a temporary suspension of Skill Rating (SR) penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns about unfair penalties resulting from the unavoidable crashes. The temporary measure ensures that unintentional disconnections won't result in penalties, while maintaining penalties for players leaving mid-match.
Despite this temporary fix, the persistent bugs, even after a major January 2025 update, remain a concern for players. Disruptions to Ranked play, regardless of cause, are always met with player dissatisfaction. The development team is actively working on resolving these issues.
