The Nintendo Store in San Francisco is set to open in a month, but it already has at least one eager camper waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2. YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, detailing his flight to San Francisco. He plans to camp out for both the launch of the Switch 2 and the grand opening of the store itself, scheduled for May 15.
Super Cafe traveled "over 800 miles" and intends to remain there for the next two months, aiming to be the first in line on the West Coast. "I've only lived in my apartment for two months. I like, just moved out," Super Cafe shared. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares."
Now, the San Francisco store joins the New York store in having its own dedicated camper. Another YouTube content creator is currently waiting to be first in line for the Switch 2 at the New York location. Super Cafe mentioned that he is mostly camping solo but encouraged others interested in joining him for the San Francisco opening to get in touch.
Regarding accommodations, food, showers, and other necessities, Super Cafe plans to address these in a future Q&A video.
The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly new consoles, is a long-standing one. With campers now at both coastal Nintendo stores, it remains to be seen if this will spark a trend of others joining the lines. These creators certainly show dedication to their cause.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release on June 5, 2025. For those who prefer not to camp out, you can follow our guides on Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, though ongoing tariffs are creating some uncertainty for consumers in the United States.
