According to Deadline, Warner Bros.' previously shelved film, Coyote vs. Acme, may soon see the light of day thanks to ongoing negotiations with Los Angeles-based independent film production and distribution company, Ketchup Entertainment. The report indicates that while the deal is not yet finalized, a successful negotiation could lead to a theatrical release of the movie in 2026.
Coyote vs. Acme, announced in 2022, is inspired by a 1990 Ian Frazier article in The New Yorker. The film, co-written by James Gunn and featuring stars Will Forte and John Cena, was initially slated for a mid-2023 release on Max. However, despite completing filming, it was shelved, prompting a dedicated campaign to save the project.
Ketchup Entertainment has a history of rescuing films from cancellation, as seen with their recent efforts to save Warner Bros.' *The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie*. This film, which faced a similar fate, was secured by Ketchup Entertainment for a theatrical release in the US, marking it as the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit cinemas. IGN's review praised it as a "laugh-out-loud riot."Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio also includes notable releases such as Hellboy: The Crooked Man and the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck. Additionally, the company co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 biopic, Ferrari.
