Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi

Capcom recently showcased fresh gameplay footage for its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The reveal, part of the PlayStation State of Play presentation, not only offered a glimpse into the game's impressive sword-based combat and formidable enemies but also confirmed the legendary Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist.

PlayThe trailer highlighted Musashi's exceptional swordsmanship alongside a glimpse of his playful and mischievous personality. Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most renowned historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the late Toshiro Mifune, a celebrated Japanese actor known for his portrayal of Musashi in various samurai films.

The game's setting is a demonic Kyoto, overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning hellish creatures into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
