How to Capture Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is thrilling, but capturing them is essential if you aim to collect all their valuable parts. Here’s a detailed guide on how to effectively capture monsters in the game.

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing a monster in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward but requires precise timing and strategy. The key is to weaken the monster to the point where it becomes vulnerable, then use a trap and tranquilize it to complete the capture.

To know when a monster is weak enough to be captured, watch for specific signs. Your Palico will alert you when the monster is nearing its limit. Additionally, look for a skull icon over the monster on your minimap, and observe if the monster starts limping or drooling, indicating low HP.

Once the monster is weakened, it's time to set your trap. You can choose between a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap. Place the trap on the ground and lure the monster into it. When the monster steps into the trap, it will be immobilized for a brief period, giving you the perfect opportunity to use Tranq Bombs. Usually, one or two Tranq Bombs are sufficient to capture the monster. Alternatively, you can use Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon and preferred playstyle.

Successfully capturing a monster will conclude the quest and transport you back to Base Camp.

How to Get Traps and Tranq Items

While your Palico may occasionally set traps for you, it's wise to carry your own into the field. There are two primary types of traps: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. Crafting a Pitfall Trap requires a Trap Tool and a Net, which can be made from Spiderwebs or Ivy. For a Shock Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.

For tranquilizing items, you can craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These Tranq Bombs can be further combined with Throwing Knives or Normal Ammo to create Tranq Blades and Tranq Ammo, respectively.

With these tips, you're now equipped to capture monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more in-depth strategies and game insights, be sure to visit The Escapist.
