After numerous delays, Cassette Beasts has finally made its global debut on Android, following its initial PC release two years ago. Developed by Bytten Studio and published by Raw Fury, this game transports players back to the era of cassettes—those vintage devices your parents might have used to enjoy music. If you're unfamiliar with cassettes, a quick Google search can fill you in!
In Cassette Beasts, you find yourself stranded on the peculiar island of New Wirral, a place where time and reality seem to blur. Here, monsters roam freely, and residents transform into creatures to combat these threats, all while relying on cassette tapes for daily life.
Your mission is to survive on the island and find a way back home. To achieve this, you'll need to use your cassette player to record the monsters you encounter. Once recorded, you can play back these tapes to transform into the monsters themselves.
Forge strong bonds with the inhabitants of Harbourtown, and you'll unlock the ability to fuse your monster form with a partner, creating unique and powerful hybrids. With the potential to combine any two monsters, the possibilities are virtually limitless.
New Wirral is brimming with dungeons, puzzles, and secret areas that you can only access with the right monster abilities. Whether it's gliding over cliffs, swimming through mysterious waters, scaling impossible walls, or even becoming magnetic, the island offers a vast playground for exploration.
The game features a turn-based combat system enriched with an elemental chemistry mechanic. By strategically combining different types, you can disrupt your enemies, enhance your team's abilities, or even alter an opponent's elemental type during battle.
Cassette Beasts supports Bluetooth controller use, although you might encounter minor issues. The game is free to play and available for download from the Google Play Store.
