According to a post on the PlayStation.Blog by Naughty Dog Head of Studio Neil Druckmann, a physical The Last of Us Complete Collector’s Edition will launch on July 10 for $109.99, with pre-orders available now. This edition offers additional collectibles to enhance its value, including a Steelbook case, game discs, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics 1 – 4, four lithographic art prints, and a thank-you letter from Druckmann.
“From our entire studio, thank you so much for your incredible support for The Last of Us and Naughty Dog over the years,” Druckmann expressed in his post. “This is such an exciting moment for both the franchise and our teams. We are so humbled by your personal stories of what the series has meant to you, have marveled at your incredible Photo Mode shots, and inspired to keep pushing ourselves forward to create more stories and worlds you’ll love.”
The Last of Us series originally debuted on the PS3 in 2013 and has since become a cherished part of the PlayStation catalog. Despite its popularity, the series' numerous re-releases and remasters have faced criticism from both fans and detractors. The adventure of Joel and Ellie was enhanced for the PS4 in 2014, followed by a comprehensive remake for the PS5 in 2022. The Last of Us Part 2, which continued Ellie’s narrative, was released in 2020 and later remastered in early 2024. Both games have also made their way to PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 arriving in 2023 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered just last week.
The Last of Us Complete consolidates all of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic content into a single package, marking yet another re-release. While some may question the need for revisiting Joel and Ellie's world again, the timing aligns with the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 this Sunday, with Season 3 already greenlit.
