If you follow Rockstar Games on X (the Everything App formerly known as Twitter), you might have been taken aback or puzzled when you saw the GTA studio posting about the film "Marching Powder" and its star, Danny Dyer.

You might be wondering why Rockstar would promote a small British film to its 21 million followers. And who exactly is Danny Dyer? Let us break it down for you.

Who is Danny Dyer?

Danny Dyer, whose full name is Daniel John Dyer, hails from East London and is a well-known figure in the UK. Described by Rockstar as an "absolute legend," Dyer embodies the quintessential British slang term "legend" – someone who is funny, reckless, original, and sensitive in the right measures, as per the Urban Dictionary.

Since starting his acting career in 1993, Dyer has built a reputation for portraying tough, working-class characters. His public persona reflects this image; he's outspoken on various issues and often adopts a "tough uncle" approach to life. For instance, in 2010, he advised a reader of Zoo magazine to go on a "rampage [drinking session] with the boys" to cope with a breakup.

Dyer is also known for his entertaining social media presence, as evidenced by this classic tweet:

Roll on bonfire night..........it's gonna get strapped to a great big massive fuck off Rocket so it can join the other Furbys in the sky...

How is Danny Dyer Connected to Rockstar?

If you're a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, you've likely heard Danny Dyer's voice before. He voices Kent Paul in "GTA: Vice City," where he manages the Scottish rock band Love Fist, and he reprised the role in "GTA: San Andreas," managing the Gurning Chimps and later producing for rapper Madd Dogg.

Dyer's connection to Rockstar goes beyond just voice acting. In 2004, he starred in "The Football Factory," a British film directed by Nick Love and produced by Rockstar Games. This film, which delves into the world of football hooliganism, heavy drinking, and drug use, showcases Dyer's signature gritty style.

"Marching Powder," the film Rockstar promoted, reunites Dyer with Nick Love and explores similar themes to "The Football Factory." Although Rockstar is not involved in "Marching Powder," the studio likely shared the post due to its previous collaboration with Dyer and Love.

Is Vice City's Kent Paul Returning for GTA 6?

The short answer is: we don't know. And the X post about "Marching Powder" doesn't provide any clues about GTA 6. But let's entertain the possibility. Could Kent Paul make an appearance in Grand Theft Auto 6?

It's worth noting that the GTA series is divided into two distinct eras: the 3D era (games released on PS2 and PSP) and the HD era (from GTA 4 onwards). These are considered separate universes with no direct storyline continuation between them. This is why Los Santos in GTA 5 looks different from its counterpart in San Andreas, and why characters from the PS2 era don't appear in GTA 4 and 5.

However, there have been instances of overlap. Grove Street from "San Andreas" appears in GTA 5, and several gangs from the 3D universe, like the Ballas, reappear in the HD universe. Lazlo, another recurring character, has been featured across both eras. Interestingly, Kent Paul's name is also on the Vinewood Walk of Fame in GTA 5.

So, while a return for Kent Paul in GTA 6 is possible, the X post about "Marching Powder" doesn't bring us any closer to confirmation.
