Dating in Fields of Mistria: What You Need to Know

NPC Studio's *Fields of Mistria* has garnered acclaim for its compelling marriage candidates, rich dialogue, and thoughtfully crafted romance questlines. If you're wondering whether you can date the romance options in *Fields of Mistria*, the answer is a bit nuanced.

Currently, you cannot technically go on dates with the romance options in *Fields of Mistria*. However, the game's romance system is still incredibly engaging and well worth the $13.99 price tag on Steam. After spending over 100 hours trying to win March's affection, I can confidently say that the existing system offers a rewarding experience.

With the first major update in November 2024, *Fields of Mistria* increased the heart cap from four to six and introduced a new heart event for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These events unlock at two, four, and six hearts, with playable cutscenes that enhance the narrative. NPC Studio has plans to add eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, though no specific dates or details have been shared beyond the upcoming March 2025 update, which won't include a higher heart level cap or new heart events.

While the inability to date might disappoint new players eager to explore romance, *Fields of Mistria* offers a stellar romance experience even in its current state. The game's dialogue is rich and realistic, with flirty undertones that enhance the romantic interactions. The heart events, while potentially interpretable as platonic, are crafted with enough ambiguity to allow for romantic readings, especially as your relationships deepen. This pacing makes the romantic journey in *Fields of Mistria* feel exceptionally rewarding.

New players shouldn't be deterred by the lack of traditional dating. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event where you can initiate a date-like experience with eligible NPCs once you reach four hearts. This event allows you to spend an evening watching the stars with your chosen romance option. While Caldarus currently doesn't trigger a date at the Summit location like other NPCs, this might change with the March 2025 update, which will unlock his romance questline.

Although you can't officially date NPCs in *Fields of Mistria* yet, the game offers plenty of engaging content to keep players satisfied until this feature is fully implemented.
