Digimon enthusiasts have much to look forward to following the exciting announcements made at DIGIMON CON 2025. Bandai Namco revealed their latest mobile project, Digimon Alysion, and shared new details about the eagerly anticipated Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
During the DIGIMON CON 2025 Livestream on March 20, Bandai Namco unveiled Digimon Alysion, an innovative mobile trading card game (TCG) currently in development. This move aims to tap into the thriving mobile gaming market, following the success of games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap. Digimon Alysion is designed as a free-to-play digital TCG where players can collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters, craft their decks, and engage in battles with other players.
One of the standout features of Digimon Alysion is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, providing players with a narrative-driven experience alongside the traditional and competitive gameplay elements. The newly released trailer offered a glimpse into the gameplay and introduced an all-female cast speculated to be central to the story mode. New characters such as Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon called Gemmon, were showcased.
While no specific release date for Digimon Alysion was announced, Bandai Namco did mention an upcoming closed beta test, with further details to be shared later.
The event also shed more light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's background, its main characters, and the unique abilities of several Digimon featured in the game. He confirmed that players can choose from three starter Digimon at the game's outset: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all beloved characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime.
Hara revealed that Time Stranger will boast an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory, which had 330 Digimon. The new trailer showcased some of these Digimon, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon.
Additionally, the game's story and main characters were introduced. Players can select between two protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for ADAMAS, an organization dedicated to uncovering threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, will accompany players on their journey, which involves traveling through time, as suggested by the game's title.
DIGIMON CON 2025 also featured other exciting announcements, including a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and the upcoming anime series Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these developments, the Digimon franchise is set for a promising future, and fans should keep an eye out for further updates throughout the year.
