Dragon Quest 3 Remake: How to Get the Yellow Orb

The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially represented as "???" on the map. Its name is determined by the merchant you hire and leave there. You must establish and develop this village to acquire the orb.

Locating Merchantburg (???)

After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), Merchantburg is accessible. With quest markers enabled, it's found in the northeast corner of the map, at the eastern edge of the eastern continent (accessible by sailing west from the coast).

Optimal Timing for Visiting Merchantburg

While orb acquisition order is flexible, visiting Merchantburg early (immediately after getting the ship) is recommended. The town's growth takes time, and early establishment allows you to collect other orbs concurrently.

Acquiring the Yellow Orb

Establishing Merchantburg:

1. Hire a merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat en route.
2. In Merchantburg, enter the single building. Speak to the old man; he needs a merchant to establish the town.
3. Offer your newly hired merchant. They'll leave your party and start the town, revealing its name.

Returning to Merchantburg and its Growth:

Merchantburg develops through five stages. You'll receive notifications to revisit after each growth spurt. The final stage involves a large cabaret. After leaving the cabaret, be wary of a security guard attempting to overcharge you. During the fourth visit, notice your merchant's growing unpopularity, foreshadowing the final stage.

Obtaining the Yellow Orb (Final Visit):

Visit Merchantburg at night during the fifth visit. The merchant will be absent from their home. The townsfolk have revolted, imprisoning the merchant in the house south of their home.

Speak to the imprisoned merchant. They'll reveal the Yellow Orb's location. Return to the merchant's house; a quest marker will appear behind the sofa. Interact with the ground behind the sofa to find the Yellow Orb.

For most players, the Yellow Orb will likely be obtained near the end, after acquiring the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair), the Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel), the Red Orb (Pirates' Den), the Green Orb (Theddon), and the Silver Orb (Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine).
