EA's eagerly anticipated free-to-play skateboarding simulator, Skate (stylized as skate.), has opened its doors for console playtesting. Here's your guide to securing a spot in the beta!
After its announcement in June 2020 and numerous teasers, skate. is now available for playtesting on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. While there's no confirmed date yet for the PC beta, fans can still sign up as an Insider to stay in the loop.
According to the game's official X (formerly Twitter) account, console playtesting has been underway since at least December, with some evidence suggesting it started as early as September, as seen in a highlight reel. Developer Full Circle continues to invite fans to join the playtesting, as the game is still in active development.
To participate in the beta, interested players should visit EA's official website and navigate to the Skate page to register for Skate Insider Playtesting. Not only will you get early access to the game, but as an Insider, you'll also receive exclusive rewards, including an in-game skateboard and stickers when skate. launches in Early Access.
skate. is slated for an Early Access release in 2025. This latest installment in the franchise arrives nearly a decade after Skate 3 and will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, skate. is designed as a free-to-play, live-service game that aims to deliver an "authentic evolution" of the nearly 20-year-old series, as Full Circle mentioned in a previous interview on their YouTube channel.
