Escape from Tarkov has just rolled out a monumental update to version 0.16.0.0, and Battlestate Games is not holding back on the details. Alongside the ongoing technical enhancements, they've dropped a comprehensive changelog detailing new features and bug fixes. To top it off, a brand-new trailer has been released to showcase all the exciting changes.
Battlestate Games has launched a festive event named Khorovod, introducing not only special tasks and rewards but also a unique Khorovod mode. Players are tasked with lighting and defending a Christmas tree across six different locations, adding a seasonal twist to the game's dynamic.
For those who thrive on grinding, the introduction of Prestige mode is a game-changer. Similar to mechanics seen in Call of Duty, players can opt to reset their character upon reaching level 55, completing specific quests, and amassing enough resources. This reset retains certain equipment while offering exclusive rewards, including achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks, which remain unaffected by wipes. Currently, two prestige levels are available, with the promise of eight more to come, ensuring long-term engagement for even the most dedicated fans.
Among the myriad of updates, the switch to the Unity 2022 engine stands out, promising improved performance and visuals. A new Frostbite status effect adds a layer of realism, where players must manage their character's exposure to cold, using alcohol, warmth, and shelters to mitigate reduced vision and stamina.
The update also brings winter-themed upgrades and a revamped Customs map with new textures, objects, and points of interest. Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher, expand the arsenal. Hidden exfils now offer an alternative escape from raids, requiring special items to discover.
Additional features include a new BTR Driver quest chain, hideout customization, continuous healing mechanics, and adjustments to recoil and visuals. Numerous balance changes and fixes round out this update, accompanied by the customary wipe that resets player progress. With servers set to go live in a few hours, the Escape from Tarkov community has a lot to explore and enjoy.
