Nintendo officially opened its San Francisco store today, May 15, located at 331 Powell Street in Union Square. This marks the second official Nintendo retail space in the U.S., following the highly successful New York location, previously known as the Nintendo World Store. The New York store underwent renovations and rebranded as Nintendo NY before reopening in 2016.
IGN visited the San Francisco store to explore its offerings and spoke exclusively with Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser. We discussed the reasoning behind opening the company's first West Coast store now.
Naturally, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to discuss the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, set to release on June 5. During our conversation, Bowser shared insights into the Switch 2’s availability across the U.S., the much-discussed Game-Key Cards, and other details.
