Freedom Wars Remastered plunges players into a gripping dystopian world where they, as Sinners, battle monstrous Abductors to safeguard humanity. A key strategy to bolster combat prowess involves upgrading weapons and accessories, enhancing base stats and incorporating modules for various improvements.
Players can initiate weapon upgrades early in the game, bypassing the need to depend solely on mission rewards or enemy drops. This comprehensive guide details the steps to upgrade weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.
To upgrade your arsenal in Freedom Wars Remastered, you'll need to advance through the main storyline until you achieve Level 002 Code Clearance. At this point, as a CODE 2 Sinner, you unlock the Facility Management Function through the Personal Responsibility Portal. Navigate to the Weapon Development Facility to manage and upgrade your weapons. Upgrades require specific resources and Entitlement Points, though costs can be mitigated by enlisting the help of a Citizen. These Citizens offer varying reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude, making the process straightforward once you delve into it.
Before proceeding with an upgrade, you'll be presented with a preview of the enhanced weapon stats. The Weapon Development Facility also allows for the addition of Elements and experimentation with Modules and Module Slots. To elevate a weapon to a higher Grade, you must purchase the requisite permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.
During the initial stages of the main story, missions often yield meager rewards in terms of high-Grade weapons. While Zakka in The Warren offers weapons and combat items for purchase, these are predominantly limited to Grade Level 1, underscoring the importance of upgrading. Your CODE 3 Exams mandate acquiring higher Grade Development Facility Permits, enabling the upgrade of your preferred weapon. This strategy allows you to retain your upgraded weapon while donating lower-Grade finds from missions for reduced sentences and additional Entitlement Points.
The first upgrade in the Weapon Development Facility also unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with further achievements linked to the upgrading system, making it a compelling pursuit for trophy hunters. The substantial damage disparity between weapons of different Grades highlights the value of investing time in gear enhancement.
Later in the game, players gain access to the Ability Development Facility within Facility Management, opening up additional avenues for improvement.
