Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 star Ned Luke fuels anticipation for GTA 6, predicting blockbuster sales and assuring fans the wait will be worthwhile. This article delves into Luke's predictions and the ongoing speculation surrounding GTA 6's development.
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, emphasizing Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
He reassured fans, stating, "Be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He cited GTA 5's impressive $800 million day-one revenue in 2013 as a benchmark, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure. Market research firm DFC Intelligence projects over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in first-year revenue, with $1 billion attributed to pre-orders alone.
Luke also offered insights on the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and possibly GTA 6. He highlighted Michael's absence from GTA Online, contrasting it with Trevor and Franklin's appearances. He hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a future GTA Online DLC or even a direct role in GTA 6.
While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario for his character, Luke remained coy, stating, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is currently undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview, York highlighted the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it." He believes the game is likely playable and extensively tested internally, with "little extras" still being added.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, but details have remained scarce. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated, no official release date has been confirmed. For the latest updates, visit our dedicated Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
