The excitement for the newly released GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've delved deep into all the secrets and details it holds. Unfortunately, fans will need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. But while we count down the days, let's take a moment to appreciate and rank the Rockstar games we've loved over the years, just for fun.
Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 games, giving us iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which of these gems stands at the top? Note that we're focusing solely on games developed by Rockstar, leaving out published titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2. I've created a personal tier list based on my enjoyment of each game over the years, and you can check it out here:
Red Dead Redemption 2 easily secures the top spot in my S-tier, being my all-time favorite game. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special affection for Max Payne 3 with its bullet-time ballet and GTA San Andreas, which I played when I was far too young. At the other end of the spectrum, in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, which are, frankly, not on anyone's must-play list.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Do you think Vice City surpasses GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the IGN community.
Although we've only seen two trailers so far, where do you think GTA 6 will rank once it's released? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let us know why you've ranked the games in your chosen order.
