CES 2025 unveiled a groundbreaking innovation in mobile gaming: the AI-powered "Co-Playable Character" (CPC). This new concept, showcased by Krafton for PUBG and inZOI, introduces NPCs infused with generative AI, blurring the lines between player and non-player characters.

Krafton, in partnership with NVIDIA ACE, revealed the CPC on January 8th. For PUBG, this manifests as "PUBG Ally," an AI companion capable of adapting strategies to enhance gameplay dynamics. The impact on inZOI is equally significant, with "Smart Zoi" characters possessing unique personalities and emotional depth, creating more realistic interactions within the simulation.

ytA key feature of the CPC is real-time conversational AI, adapting to dynamic game scenarios. Kangwook Lee, Head of Krafton's Deep Learning Division, highlights the collaboration with NVIDIA as a pivotal step in leveraging AI's transformative power within gaming.
