While you can befriend anyone in *Fields of Mistria*, romance is a special bond reserved for a select group of NPCs. As of the v0.13.0 update, you have the option to romance 11 different characters, including the enigmatic Caldarus.

Each romanceable NPC has a heart meter that reflects your relationship status with them. To increase this meter, you need to engage with them regularly and cater to their preferences. Start by **talking to them every day**—this can be seamlessly integrated into your daily routine around town. A daily chat can significantly enhance your bond. Additionally, make sure to **fulfill their requests** posted on the town board; completing these tasks will give you more chances to raise their heart gauge.

Another key strategy is to **give them a gift once per day**. Choose items that they particularly like or love, which vary from one character to another. You can either gather or craft these items. On their birthday, make sure to present them with an item they love for an extra boost to their heart meter. Consistently following these steps will quickly elevate your relationship.

Keep in mind that, currently, the heart gauge tops out at **six hearts**. Reaching this level triggers a cutscene hinting at budding feelings, but not a full romance yet. Future updates, as outlined in the game's roadmap, will introduce 8 and 10-heart events, as well as options for marriage and children, ensuring your romantic journey in Mistria continues to flourish.
