NetEase Games has announced an exciting roadmap for Marvel Rivals, promising to keep the game fresh with regular content updates. According to Creative Director Guangyun Chen, in an interview with Metro, the studio plans to introduce a new hero every half-season, which translates to roughly every month and a half or every six weeks.
"Every season we’ll be rolling out fresh seasonal stories, new maps, and new heroes. We’ll actually be breaking down each season into two halves," Chen explained. "The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero. We just eventually want to continue to enhance the experience, and, you know, keep everyone excited in our community."
This ambitious schedule kicked off with Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, which introduced Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch set to launch in the second half. These iconic characters have set a high bar, and fans are eagerly anticipating who will join the roster next.
The initial lineup of Marvel Rivals already boasts a strong cast, including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. Looking ahead, Season 2 is rumored to feature Blade, while fans are also clamoring for characters like Daredevil, Deadpool, and other members of the X-Men. With the game's current success, NetEase shows no signs of slowing down in expanding the roster.
In addition to new heroes, Marvel Rivals Season 1 brought a series of balance changes and gameplay tweaks, with more updates promised in the future.
