The sheer speed of Ebony Odogaron can be overwhelming, making it a formidable adversary. To counteract its agility, consider using a Flashfly found nearby to stun the beast, giving you precious moments to attack. Additionally, crafting Flash Pods can provide a reliable method to immobilize the monster, making it easier to land your hits without risking immediate retaliation.
Facing Ebony Odogaron solo can turn into a dodging marathon, so it's wise to bring allies into the fray. Sending out an SOS signal can attract other players to your cause, but if no one responds, NPCs are also available to assist. These companions can serve as distractions, drawing the monster's attention away from you, allowing you to focus on evasion and strategic counterattacks.
During the battle, you'll encounter areas with Entangled Rocks hanging above. Utilizing your slinger to bring these down can stun Ebony Odogaron for a few crucial seconds. Remember, this tactic is a one-time use per fight, so plan accordingly. Complementing this, Pitfall and Shock Traps can offer two more opportunities to immobilize the creature, maximizing your damage potential.
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which doesn't directly harm you but significantly reduces your ability to apply elemental or status effects. To counteract this, carry Nulberries to cleanse the effect, or equip gear with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its impact.
Paralysis is a key status effect to use against Ebony Odogaron, as it immobilizes the monster, giving you a window to attack without interruption. If you can manage to knock it down near roots, it might become further entangled, extending your attack phase and increasing your chances of victory.
Targeting Ebony Odogaron's head, its most vulnerable spot with a 3-star weakness, maximizes your damage output. However, this also puts you at risk of its direct attacks. Alternatively, focusing on its forelegs and tail can be safer, albeit less damaging, and may allow you to break these parts, further weakening the monster.

Capturing Ebony Odogaron requires strategic timing. Deploy a Pitfall or Shock Trap once the monster's health is reduced to 20 percent or below. At this point, a tranquilizer can be used to put it to sleep, allowing for a successful capture. Failure to reduce its health sufficiently will result in the monster breaking free, forcing you to resume the fight.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
