If you've been keeping an eye on the latest global game releases, you might be disappointed to hear about another title that's currently out of reach. Medabot Survivors, set to launch on February 10th, brings the beloved robot role-playing series to mobile devices once again. However, it's currently exclusive to Japan, much to the chagrin of fans worldwide.
As reported by Gematsu, Medabots might ring a bell for those of us who grew up in the wake of Pokémon's massive success. During that time, there was a significant effort to introduce various Japanese franchises with merchandising potential to Western audiences. While Digimon gained a strong following (and some argue it even surpasses Pokémon), Medabots never quite managed to capture the same level of popularity outside of Japan.
In its home country, however, Medabots has been a major success story. It's not quite a global phenomenon, but it's far more popular in Japan than it ever was in the West. It's no surprise, then, that the franchise is now venturing into the Survivors-like genre, although for now, only Japanese fans will have the chance to experience it.
**Surviving the Survivors**
While the term "Survivors-like" might be relatively new, the genre itself predates the popular game Vampire Survivors. The release of Medabot Survivors is not only exciting for fans but also noteworthy as we witness this genre's rapid expansion across the globe.
Having gained some insight into the Japanese gaming scene, I can confirm there are many excellent releases that might never make it to other markets. However, if Medabot Survivors proves to be a hit, there's hope that it might eventually become available worldwide.
