Navigating the "Cursed" Mission in Metro 2033: A Comprehensive Guide

Even after a decade, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, its popularity recently boosted by the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the notoriously tricky "Cursed" mission, set within Moscow's Turgenevskaya station (as it's known in the books and real world). This mission follows the anomaly-induced nosalis wipeout, beginning after Artyom and Khan travel via railcar to the next station.

Locating the Bomb

After exiting the railcar and reaching the barricaded escalators, speak with the defenders. They'll explain that a demolition team, tasked with collapsing the tunnel to stop the nosalis advance, has gone missing. Your objective: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows; they'll inflict damage. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will initiate, automatically placing and lighting the fuse. Escape quickly; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb thrown into the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: Even with the tunnel destroyed, nosalises may still infiltrate via other routes.

Destroying the Airlock

Securing the station requires one final step: collapsing the airlock. Locate the stairs on the right of the main platform, leading to a torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises and head to the support columns. Interact with them to plant a pipe bomb; escape immediately after lighting the fuse. With both tunnel and airlock compromised, proceed with Khan to the shrine room, initiating the "Armory" mission.
