Microsoft Announces Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct for June

Microsoft has confirmed its plans for June, announcing an Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and a dedicated The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. The company traditionally hosts a June showcase to unveil upcoming Xbox games, and this year is no exception. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is set to be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific Time, 1pm Eastern Time, and 6pm UK Time.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will provide a glimpse into upcoming titles from Microsoft's first-party studios as well as exciting new games from third-party partners worldwide. Microsoft stated, "in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe."

What might Microsoft have in store? The company has numerous games in development, including the new Fable, which has been delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile’s Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband by the Just Cause series developer, Rare's Everwild, recently reviewed by Microsoft gaming boss Phil Spencer, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima’s OD, and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3. Additionally, Double Fine, known for Psychonauts, is working on a new project.

On the Activision Blizzard front, a new Call of Duty game is expected later this year, alongside various releases from Blizzard. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to launch in July, potentially making an appearance.

As for Bethesda, fans are eagerly awaiting news on what's next for Starfield, including a possible PlayStation 5 release date. There's also anticipation for updates on The Elder Scrolls 6.

There's always the chance that Microsoft might reveal new Xbox hardware. Although a next-gen Xbox console and an Xbox handheld are rumored for 2027, the showcase might touch on Xbox-branded handhelds from third-party companies.

Following the success of the 2023 Starfield Direct and 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, Microsoft will host The Outer Worlds 2 Direct immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase. The Outer Worlds 2, developed by Obsidian, which recently released Avowed, will offer new gameplay, details, and developer insights from the team behind the acclaimed first-person sci-fi RPG. The game is slated for release later in 2025, and a release date announcement is highly anticipated.
