In Phasmophobia, the Parabolic Microphone is a game-changer for ghost hunting. This optional piece of equipment significantly aids in locating even the most elusive spirits. Unlocking and using it effectively is key to successful investigations.
The Parabolic Microphone isn't given to you at the start; it's an unlockable item. To acquire it, you'll need to reach specific levels within the game. There are three tiers, each offering improved performance and reliability. Unlock the first tier at Level 7, the second at Level 31 ($3,000 upgrade), and the third at Level 72 ($5,000 upgrade). Purchase them from the in-game shop.
You can equip up to two Parabolic Microphones, regardless of your team size. Remember, prestiging resets your level, requiring you to unlock each tier again.

To use the Parabolic Microphone, equip it from the truck's equipment wall before starting your investigation. (Note: Challenge Mode may have different preset loadouts.) Use the appropriate button to activate and deactivate it. The Tier 3 version includes a helpful radar display to pinpoint sound sources.
On larger maps, the Parabolic Microphone is invaluable. It helps locate the ghost by listening for sounds like object throws, door movements, or even the ghost's voice. It can also be crucial for completing optional objectives requiring you to record the ghost's voice. Certain ghosts, such as the Deogen or Banshee, have unique audio cues only detectable with the Parabolic Microphone, aiding in ghost identification.
