Owlcat Games Expands into Publishing, Unveiling New Narrative-Driven Titles
Owlcat Games, renowned for its acclaimed cRPGs Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, announced a significant expansion into game publishing on August 13th. This strategic move, building on their acquisition of META Publishing in 2021, aims to support and amplify the creation of narrative-driven games.
Owlcat's publishing initiative focuses on collaborating with studios sharing their passion for compelling narratives. The company will provide resources and expertise to help developers bring their unique storytelling visions to life, fostering innovation within the gaming community.
New Games on the Horizon
Owlcat has already partnered with two promising development teams:
Emotion Spark Studio (Serbia): Developing Rue Valley, a narrative RPG centered around a protagonist trapped in a time loop within a remote town. The game explores themes of mental health and personal growth as the character unravels the mystery.
Another Angle Games (Poland): Creating Shadow of the Road, an isometric RPG set in an alternate feudal Japan. This title blends samurai culture, tactical turn-based combat, magical yokai, and steampunk technology, promising a unique mix of narrative and strategic gameplay.
Both Rue Valley and Shadow of the Road are in early development, with more details expected soon. Owlcat's commitment to fostering diverse storytelling experiences will undoubtedly enrich the landscape of narrative-driven games for players worldwide. The studio plans to share further updates on these projects as development progresses.
