The eagerly anticipated second Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has hit a snag, with its launch delayed due to unforeseen issues. Originally set to return on January 14, 2025, with both classic and new rewards, fans will need to wait a bit longer to dive back into this pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024. Despite the setback, World of Warcraft aims to have Plunderstorm up and running before the end of January 14.
The event's rollout was initially planned with a six-hour maintenance window, which was extended to eight hours, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. However, a forum post from WoW community manager Kaivax during this extension revealed the unexpected issues causing the delay. While no new estimated launch time has been provided, the team is working diligently to resolve these problems.
In the meantime, World of Warcraft has successfully brought its regular servers back online, allowing players to engage in other in-game activities. Whether it's completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring other features in The War Within, there's plenty to keep fans occupied while they await Plunderstorm's return.
The second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces exciting new elements like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. It's speculated that these additions might be the root of the current issues, but the team is hopeful to resolve them swiftly, allowing players to resume their plundering adventures soon.
Despite the delay, World of Warcraft's new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are still available. By watching four hours of any Twitch streamer in the World of Warcraft category before February 4 at 10 AM PST, players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. Notably, the streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to progress towards this reward, offering fans a way to earn something special while waiting for the game mode to go live.
