Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Trading System Gets an Overhaul
Pokémon TCG Pocket’s launch was met with excitement, but its trading system quickly became a major point of contention. The required Trade Tokens were difficult to obtain, and trading restrictions were numerous. However, a significant update promises to address these issues.
Trade Tokens are being completely removed. Trading three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity cards will now require Shinedust, earned by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens can be converted to Shinedust. Further changes are planned, including adjustments to Shinedust acquisition and an upcoming feature allowing players to share cards they wish to trade.
Trading Spaces: Addressing the Challenges
The initial trading system was hampered by necessary restrictions to prevent abuse within the digital environment. These restrictions, combined with the scarcity of Trade Tokens, created significant frustration.
While these changes are welcome, their implementation is slated for autumn, leaving players to wait several months for a solution. This slower-than-desired pace highlights the challenges of balancing a fair trading system in a digital card game.
