Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin Design Unveiled

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, presenting it as the latest addition to its top-tier smartphone lineup. While it closely resembles the earlier 2025 release, the Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge distinguishes itself with a sleek, thinner design that truly gives it an edge.

When comparing specs, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is nearly identical to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both models boast the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a high-resolution 200MP camera. The most notable difference lies in the chassis; the S25 Edge has been slimmed down to a mere 5.8mm thick, compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in thickness also makes the phone lighter, tipping the scales at just 163g.

Despite its thinner profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same impressive 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the Galaxy S25, matching the specs of the slightly larger 6.9-inch screen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its slender and expansive form, durability becomes a critical concern for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is claimed to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The real test, however, will be its resilience to everyday mishaps, like being sat on in a pocket—will it be enough to prevent a potential "bendgate" scenario?

The Galaxy S25 Edge also incorporates the same "Mobile AI" tools that were introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and refined in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables significant local AI processing, enhancing user privacy. While some AI applications may still rely on cloud services, Samsung offers unique features like notification and news article summaries for quick insights.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with the 256GB model starting at $1,099 and the 512GB model at $1,219. The phone is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is keen to assure consumers of the Galaxy S25 Edge's durability despite its slim design. Only time will tell if these assurances hold up to real-world use.
