Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has reported a record-breaking financial year, with the game generating $43 million in royalties. According to Game World Observer, Shift Up's 2024 financial report shows a total revenue of $151.4 million, marking a 30.4% increase from the previous year. The success of Stellar Blade significantly contributed to this growth, accounting for $43.2 million in royalties alone.
The momentum for Stellar Blade shows no signs of slowing down. Shift Up anticipates that the upcoming PC version will surpass the sales of the original PlayStation 5 release, particularly in the Asian market. Additionally, the company plans to unveil its new game, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. Although Project Witches was announced shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch in 2024, it is not the highly anticipated sequel to Stellar Blade. However, Shift Up has expressed interest in developing another game within the Stellar Blade franchise.
Stellar Blade is an action role-playing game where players control Eve, fighting to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. The game received a 7/10 from IGN, selling a million copies shortly after its release. IGN's review praised the game's action elements but noted that it was held back by unengaging characters, a lackluster story, and some frustrating RPG mechanics.
