EA and Maxis are thrilled to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting re-release. Today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are once again available on PC through two Legacy Collections and the specially curated The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
EA has announced the launch of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available for purchase today on PC. You can buy these collections individually or opt for the combined The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, priced at $40.
Both games come packed with all their expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection does not include the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008. However, to sweeten the deal, both collections offer exclusive bonus content. The Sims 1 features the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 includes the Grunge Revival Kit alongside its extensive add-ons.
This re-release marks the first time in over a decade that both classic games have been easily accessible. Originally, The Sims 1 was only available on physical discs, making it challenging to play on modern Windows machines without a vintage copy. The Sims 2 was last available in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, but that collection was eventually discontinued. Now, with these new Legacy Collections, all four The Sims games are conveniently purchasable and playable through digital platforms.
Back when we first reviewed them, The Sims 1 received a stellar 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 a solid 8.5/10. While the series has evolved with numerous new features and improvements, the original games still hold charm with their quirky nature, simpler gameplay, challenging aspects, and historical significance.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available for purchase on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
