When we think about landmark franchises in gaming, names like Doom, Wolfenstein, The Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, Super Mario, and Tetris often come to mind. However, we can't overlook one of the most influential series of all time: Maxis' The Sims, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year!

Originally conceived as a spin-off from the SimCity series, The Sims focused on simulating the daily lives of everyday people. Players were given unprecedented control over their Sims, guiding them through life's milestones from childhood to adulthood, marriage, career, parenthood, and beyond. This innovative approach not only established The Sims as a major franchise but also pioneered a whole new genre that remains popular across its various iterations.

In honor of this significant milestone, EA is rolling out extensive celebrations across the entire Sims franchise. From The Sims 4 to The Sims FreePlay, events are planned on virtually all platforms, reflecting the enduring appeal and cultural impact of the series.

More on Mobile

For mobile gamers, both The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Mobile are at the heart of the festivities. The Sims FreePlay has already introduced its FreePlay 2000 update, a nostalgic nod to the turn of the millennium with Y2K-themed content. This update is packed with new live events, 25 days of gifting, and much more to enhance your gameplay experience. On the other hand, The Sims Mobile is offering two free gifts for players during its birthday week, starting March 4th.
