The iconic gang from South Park, including Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman, are making a much-anticipated return for Season 27. This Colorado-based crew is set to tackle the current state of affairs, albeit in their uniquely chaotic way.
A new trailer for the upcoming season was recently unveiled, cleverly misleading viewers into thinking they were getting a sneak peek at a new dramatic series. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music set a foreboding tone, only to be hilariously disrupted by the appearance of Stan's dad, Randy, and his sister, Shelley. In a typical South Park twist, Randy inquires if Shelley has been taking drugs, suggesting it might help her, all while sitting in her room with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
Following this amusing gag, the trailer reverts to showcasing high-stakes action, hinting at several significant and timely plot points. Expect to see scenes involving major plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a cameo by P. Diddy, and, unsurprisingly for fans, a conflict with Canada. If you've followed the series or seen the 1999 movie South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, this last plotline won't come as a surprise.
The teaser also confirmed that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the show has released three specials: South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children) in 2023, followed by South Park: The End of Obesity in 2024.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2022, South Park has been a staple on Comedy Central since its debut in 1997, quickly garnering critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase.
