Peni Parker, the latest Marvel Rivals themed card in Marvel Snap, joins the game after Galacta and Luna Snow. Familiar to many from the Spider-Verse films, Peni Parker is a ramp card with a unique twist.
Peni Parker is a 2-cost, 3-power card with the following ability: On Reveal: Add SP//dr to your hand. When merged, you gain +1 Energy next turn.
SP//dr, a 3-cost, 3-power card, has this ability: On Reveal: Merge with one of your cards here. You can move that card next turn.
This card combination can be initially confusing. Essentially, Peni Parker adds SP//dr to your hand, allowing you to reposition a card on the board. Crucially, merging any card with Peni Parker grants you +1 energy on your next turn. This isn't limited to SP//dr; cards like Hulk Buster and Agony also trigger this effect. The SP//dr movement ability is a one-time effect, active only on the turn after merging.
Mastering Peni Parker takes time. Her 5-energy total cost (Peni + SP//dr) for the merge and extra energy is significant, but she synergizes well with certain cards, particularly Wiccan.
Here's a sample high-cost deck:
Quicksilver, Fenris Wolf, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Peni Parker, Quake, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Red Guardian, Gladiator, Shang-Chi, Wiccan, Gorr the God Butcher, Alioth.
This deck is adaptable. Series 5 cards (Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Wiccan, Gorr, Alioth) are essential; others can be substituted based on your meta and collection. The strategy involves playing Quicksilver and a 2-cost card (ideally Hawkeye or Peni) to set up Wiccan's effect. Peni Parker adds consistency, and SP//dr offers strategic movement. With Wiccan active, you can play Gorr and Alioth before the end of the game, creating multiple win conditions.
Another deck incorporates Peni Parker into a Scream move-style deck:
Agony, Kingpin, Kraven, Peni Parker, Scream, Juggernaut, Polaris, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Spider-Man, Cannonball, Alioth, Magneto.
This deck requires skillful manipulation of your opponent's cards. Series 5 cards (Scream, Cannonball, Alioth) are key, though substitutions are possible. Kraven and Scream control lanes, while Peni Parker's merge enables the play of both Alioth and Magneto in a single game. This deck demands strategic foresight.
Currently, Peni Parker might not be worth Collector's Tokens or Spotlight Cache Keys. While a generally strong card, she isn't currently impactful enough in the Marvel Snap meta to justify the cost. However, her value may increase as the game evolves.
