Get ready, Star Wars fans! EA's highly anticipated turn-based tactics game set in the Star Wars universe is gearing up for its big reveal at Star Wars Celebration 2025. Announced back in early 2022, this untitled strategy game is being crafted by the talented team at Bit Reactor, a studio made up of veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the XCOM series. Bit Reactor has been collaborating closely with Respawn Entertainment, the creators behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this project to life. After years of development, the game is finally ready to be unveiled to the world.
The first glimpse of this exciting new addition to the Star Wars gaming universe will be showcased on April 19 during a live panel. The panel will feature the lead development team from Bit Reactor, joined by members from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. This event is listed on the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule, promising fans an unforgettable experience.
While we eagerly await more details about this new game, we know very little about its setting or exact gameplay mechanics. However, considering the developers' background with XCOM, it's reasonable to expect a strategic, turn-based experience infused with the iconic elements of the Star Wars universe.
Respawn Entertainment is also busy with other Star Wars projects. They're currently working on the third installment of their acclaimed Star Wars Jedi trilogy, though it's not expected to appear at this year's Celebration. Previously, Respawn had been developing another Star Wars game, a first-person shooter rumored to feature a Mandalorian protagonist, but it was canceled amid a major restructuring at EA that resulted in the loss of around 670 jobs. Additionally, in early March, Respawn canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project, affecting an undisclosed number of staff members.
Star Wars Celebration 2025 isn't just about the new strategy game. Lucasfilm will also offer a sneak peek at "The Mandalorian & Grogu" movie, slated for release in May 2026, and a first look at "Star Wars: Visions Volume 3," ensuring a packed event for fans of the galaxy far, far away.
