Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the mastermind behind Stardew Valley, has reaffirmed his dedication to providing free updates and downloadable content.

In a recent Twitter (now X) post, Barone updated fans on the progress of various ports and upcoming PC updates, acknowledging the extended development time. He assured fans that he is actively working on the mobile port daily and will provide updates when significant milestones, such as release dates, are reached.

Responding to a fan's comment about the importance of free additions, Barone made a powerful statement: "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." This emphatic declaration guarantees that all future expansions will remain accessible at no extra cost.

Stardew Valley, initially launched in 2016, is a beloved farming RPG. Barone's consistent dedication to free, substantial updates has kept the game fresh and engaging for years. The recent 1.6.9 update is a prime example, introducing new festivals, multiple pet options, expanded home customization, fresh outfits, enhanced late-game content, and various quality-of-life improvements.

Barone's commitment may extend beyond Stardew Valley. He's currently developing a new game, Haunted Chocolatier, although details remain scarce.

This pledge from the sole developer of Stardew Valley underscores his respect for the community. His bold statement, "Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath," solidifies his promise of continued free content for this seven-year-old game, ensuring fans can enjoy new features without additional expense.
