9Best Gaming### Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro

12This stunning monitor delivers on all fronts with its rich features and OLED panel. It's an impressive 4K monitor at a more affordable price than the Alienware and Asus 4K OLED offerings. Its glossy coating enhances immersion when paired with a gaming PC. It features two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 connection, and USB-C.

Brightness is often a concern with gaming monitors, but the FO32U2 Pro shines with 1,000 nits, making it bright, thin, and visually striking. It also sports a distinctive 'gamer' aesthetic.

Not all gaming PCs can handle a 4K monitor at 240Hz, but the Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro is future-proof. While it requires a higher initial investment, this monitor will serve you well for years to come.

Beyond gaming, the FO32U2 Pro's OLED panel supports up to 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, delivering accurate color representation for creatives. Whether gaming, designing, or watching movies, the colors are exceptionally vivid.

With various HDR modes available, initial configuration might be overwhelming, but the monitor looks excellent once set up correctly. Gigabyte also includes useful features like picture-in-picture and an automatic black equalizer. If you're willing to invest over $1,000, the Gigabyte FO32U2 Pro is a top choice among OLED monitors.

Alienware AW3423DW – Photos

9Best Ultrawide### Dell Alienware AW3423DW

10The Alienware AW3423DW combines the beauty of OLED with an ultrawide display, enhancing both the field of view and visual quality of your games. See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsSize34”Pixel TypeQD-OLEDResolution3,440 x 1,440Max Refresh Rate175HzVRRYesHDR10YesPROSUltrawide displayDeep blacksCONSLack of HDMI 2.1Featuring Quantum Dot technology in its OLED panel, my review of the Alienware AW3423DW confirms its status as one of the best ultrawide monitors available. Quantum Dots enhance color and brightness, complementing the OLED's excellent contrast and dynamic range. The display offers true blacks, retaining detail in dark scenes, and peaks at 1000 nits in HDR mode. However, it's only 250 nits in SDR, which can appear dim in well-lit rooms.

The monitor's color performance is impressive, covering 99.3% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum and maxing out sRGB in our tests. It comes well-calibrated out of the box, ensuring stunning, accurate colors for both gaming and creative work.

With its ultrawide format, the resolution sits between 1440p and 4K, offering sharp details on the 34-inch screen. The 1800R curvature enhances immersion without distortion.

The AW3423DW boasts a 175Hz refresh rate, supported by G-Sync Ultimate to eliminate screen tearing. Its 0.1 ms GtG response time is ideal for competitive esports.

The only disappointment is the I/O panel. While it offers multiple ports, including USBs, HDMIs, and a DisplayPort, it only supports HDMI 2.0, limiting console gaming to 60Hz. Despite this, the Alienware AW3423DW remains a top-tier gaming monitor.

With a 32:9 aspect ratio and a 5,120 x 1,440 resolution, it delivers crisp visuals and vibrant colors thanks to its Samsung QD-OLED technology. This technology enhances OLED's strengths with Quantum Dot features from top TVs, reducing burn-in risks while deepening colors. The 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time make it ideal for all types of gamers, despite its premium price.

The monitor can function as two 1440p displays, perfect for multitasking or games that don't support wide aspect ratios. It provided one of the most immersive gaming experiences of the year.

Its sleek design and glossy panel enhance contrast, making it a standout piece in any setup. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 G93SC is the best large OLED monitor, offering unmatched gaming and viewing experiences. Our hands-on review of an older model explains our confidence in recommending the Samsung Odyssey brand.

5For a reliable 1440p OLED gaming monitor, the LG UltraGear 27GS95QE offers great value without breaking the bank. See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsSize27"Pixel TypeWOLEDResolution2,560 x 1,440Max Refresh Rate240HzVRRYesHDR10YesPROSExcellent visuals240Hz refresh rateCONSGlare in well-lit spacesThe LG UltraGear 27GS95QE strikes the perfect balance between 1080p and 4K, making it the top choice for 1440p OLED monitors. It's an upgrade from the LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B, boasting a brighter 1000-nit HDR display. This ensures it works well in most rooms, though glare may be an issue in very bright environments.

As an OLED monitor, it offers a near-infinite contrast ratio for deep blacks without blooming. Colors are vivid, with DCI-P3 98.5% coverage and accurate sRGB, though some picture settings are limited in sRGB mode. It's excellent for both gaming and content creation, enhanced by HDR10 compatibility.

The monitor's 240Hz refresh rate is fast enough for most gamers, and FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility ensure smooth gameplay with minimal tearing. Its response time and low input lag make it a top choice for gaming.

With two HDMI 2.1 inputs, it supports 120Hz gaming from PS5 and Xbox Series X, complete with VRR.

  1. Asus ZenScreen MQ16AH

Best Portable OLED Monitor

Best Portable### Asus ZenScreen MQ16AH

1The ASUS ZenScreen MQ16AH is an OLED monitor perfect for on-the-go use, fitting easily into your backpack. See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsSize15.6”Pixel TypeOLEDResolution1,920 x 1,080Max Refresh Rate60HzVRRYesHDR10YesPROSLight and portableLots of portsCONSGlossy panelIf you're always on the move but need a second screen, the Asus ZenScreen MQ16AH is ideal. Though I didn't review it personally, its 15.6-inch Full HD OLED panel impressed me in-person, offering 400 nits of brightness and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio for HDR. With a 1ms response time, it ensures smooth web browsing and video streaming.

The OLED panel delivers vibrant colors and excellent dynamic range, despite its lower peak brightness compared to larger gaming monitors. For gaming, it's limited to 60Hz, but the picture quality is still top-notch.

The monitor's proximity sensor switches to power-saving mode when you step away, helping prevent burn-in. The included case allows for both horizontal and vertical positioning, and it offers ample connectivity with a headphone jack, two USB-C/DisplayPort ports, an additional USB-C for power, and a mini-HDMI port.

This portable monitor is one of my favorites, offering OLED quality on the go.

6. Xiaomi G Pro 27i Mini-LED Gaming Monitor

Best OLED Alternative

9### Xiaomi G Pro 27i Mini-LED Gaming Monitor

2The Xiaomi G Pro 27i offers incredible picture quality at a budget-friendly price. Under $300, it offers near-OLED blacks using an IPS panel, with a peak HDR brightness of around 1,000 nits and quantum dots for enhanced color coverage, ideal for creators.

The monitor's secret is its mini-LED backlight with 1,152 local dimming zones, twice as many as its competitors, allowing it to rival more expensive gaming monitors. While blooming is present, it's less noticeable, and the blacks are deep while highlights and colors are vivid.

To keep costs down, it lacks extra features like a USB hub or KVM, and has few gaming options in its OSD. For color accuracy, calibration with a colorimeter is recommended. Despite these minor drawbacks, it's an incredible value.

How To Pick the Best OLED Monitor

When selecting an OLED monitor, consider the size that fits your needs. Options range from compact 24-inch models to large 55-inch displays. Assess your desk space and intended use; larger, higher-resolution screens like 4K are ideal for graphic design and video editing, while gamers might prioritize refresh rates and response times.

Think about necessary features and connectivity. Do you need multiple HDMI ports or USB-C for data transfer and charging? Some monitors offer built-in speakers, adjustable stands, and HDR support. List the features most important to you and prioritize accordingly.

OLED monitors are pricier than LCDs, but their quality and performance justify the investment. Set a realistic budget and research to find the best value.

OLED Monitor FAQ

Is OLED or Mini-LED better?

Both have unique advantages. OLEDs excel in contrast and color but may suffer from lower brightness and burn-in risks, though less so in modern models. Mini-LEDs, using IPS or VA panels, offer better brightness and contrast without burn-in but may show blooming. The choice depends on your priorities and risk tolerance.

Is OLED burn-in still an issue?

Modern OLED monitors have reduced the risk of burn-in with features like pixel shifting and intelligent dimming. Image retention might occur but typically fades after a few minutes.

Is 4K worth it over 1440p?

4K provides sharper images but demands more from your computer. A high-end graphics card like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super is needed to fully utilize a 4K OLED monitor.

When can you find discounts on OLED monitors?

Retailers often discount older models when new ones are released. Key sales events like Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday, Back to School season, and winter holidays offer the best opportunities for deals on gaming monitors.
