Poncle, the UK-based developer behind the hit roguelike Vampire Survivors, has offered a further update on the game's upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 releases. Both the latest expansion and a recent update for Vampire Survivors launched in May.
Initially released in December 2021, Vampire Survivors is a top-down shooter challenging players with seemingly endless waves of enemies. Following a successful Nintendo Switch port, the PS4 and PS5 versions were announced in April for a summer 2024 release. With summer now underway in the UK, Poncle has provided a status update.
While a precise release date for the PS4 and PS5 versions remains unannounced, Poncle assures players it will be shared as soon as possible. The development team explains the extended timeframe is due to the novelty of navigating PlayStation's submission process. They are also meticulously working on the PlayStation Trophies system, aiming to deliver a polished achievement experience befitting the game's popularity. The Steam version boasts over 200 achievements.
Poncle's transparency has been well-received, with many Twitter users expressing gratitude and anticipation for the platinum trophy. This coveted reward, earned by completing all achievements, is a testament to mastery in challenging PlayStation games.
The Operation Guns DLC, a Contra-themed expansion, arrived on May 9th. This addition introduces new biomes inspired by Contra levels, alongside 11 new characters, 22 automatic weapons, and classic music from Konami's acclaimed run-and-gun franchise.
A subsequent hotfix (1.10.105), released on May 16th, refined Operation Guns' content and addressed bugs in both the main game and the expansion.
