SoMoGa Inc. has unleashed a revitalized version of Vay on Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG returns with stunning updated visuals, a streamlined user interface, and welcome controller support.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received a prior iOS re-release by SoMoGa in 2008. This new version builds upon that legacy.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
Prepare for over 100 unique enemies and a dozen challenging boss encounters across 90 diverse locations. A standout feature is the customizable difficulty settings, catering to various player skill levels.
The revamped Vay also includes an auto-save function, eliminating frustrating manual saves. Bluetooth controller support adds flexibility to gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and items, while character leveling unlocks powerful new spells. An AI system allows for autonomous character combat.
The Story Unveiled:
Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war, the narrative centers on a colossal, malfunctioning machine that crash-landed on the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay. Programmed for destruction, this machine unleashed devastation.
Players assume the role of a hero embarking on a quest to rescue their abducted wife and potentially save the world. Their wedding day is interrupted by an attack, and their bride is kidnapped. This sets the stage for an epic journey to confront the destructive war machines.
Vay’s captivating story blends nostalgic charm with modern enhancements. It stays true to its JRPG roots, with experience and gold earned through random encounters. Immerse yourself in nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes, available in both English and Japanese audio.
