Shrek 5's New Look Is So Divisive, Even Movie Sonic Has Commented On It

Shrek 5 has unveiled its new cast and a teaser trailer, prompting even Movie Sonic to offer design advice. In a humorous TikTok video, the Sonic Movie account showcased Sonic's own transformation from his initially criticized design to his much-improved current look, offering "advice for green ogres."

IGN's exclusive first look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie in 2018 received mixed reactions, with fans focusing on the character's unusual features. Following this, director Jeff Fowler redesigned Sonic, resulting in a much more positive response.

While the reaction to Shrek's new look is less intense than Sonic's initial debut, Sonic's playful TikTok comment has amused fans. Comments included, "You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," and "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.

Initially announced in 2016, Shrek 5's development was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, in 2023, alongside plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures shifted Shrek 5's release date to December 23, 2026, moving the Minions 3 release to fill the original Shrek 5 slot.
