Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

As if they could resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in her iconic yellow and plaid. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in an exciting new Clueless sequel series, which is currently in development for Peacock.

According to Variety, the series will continue the story from the beloved 1995 film, though specific plot details are still under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone is on board, and this project differs from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned back in 2020.

The creative team is a powerhouse, with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original and rebooted Gossip Girl series, teaming up with Jordan Weiss to write and executive produce the show. They'll be joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board to produce this highly anticipated series.

This isn't the first time Clueless has made the jump to the small screen. Following the film's success, a TV adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone's recent appearance as Cher in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows she's eager to dive back into Cher's world. And honestly, who can blame her? We're all ready to see what new adventures await Cher Horowitz on Peacock.
