I wasn’t planning on buying more Pokémon cards this week, but then I stumbled upon the Scarlet & Violet – Surging Sparks Booster Bundle still in stock on Amazon for $45.02 after a massive Pokémon TCG restock. The timing couldn't be better with the Amazon Spring Sale in full swing, offering a plethora of hot sets while supplies last. My resolve melted away faster than a 60 HP Basic facing a 390-damage Hydreigon ex.
My favorite part about the Surging Sparks set is its thrilling unpredictability. It's packed with chase cards worthy of grading, like the $432 Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare. No mistake here; this electric mouse is a powerhouse both as a collectible and in combat. With Topaz Bolt, it can clear nearly any opponent from the board, while Resolute Heart makes it tough to take down.

Then there's the Latias ex and Latios duo, pulling off a cinematic romance with their connected artwork. Latias, the rarer and pricier twin, commands over $200, proving that sibling rivalry comes with a cost. Meanwhile, Milotic ex flaunts its supermodel allure with stunning light and shadow effects, while also holding its own in the meta against Tera Pokémon.
My personal highlight is Ceruledge. Its neon-infused artwork feels like a fever dream, and I mean that in the best possible way. It's the first time this card has held real value, and illustrator Rond truly deserves applause. Or at least a cup of coffee. Ceruledge may not be a top-tier competitive Pokémon, but its art makes it a must-have for me.
For collectors, the potential for value is undeniable. For players, some of these cards can dominate on the battlefield. And if you're simply drawn to shiny things and the thrill of spending $45 on cardboard, you're in good company. I've already opened one box and am now convincing myself I "need" another for research purposes. The bundle includes six booster packs, so while you're not guaranteed to pull any heavy hitters, given the rapid sell-out rate, it's wise not to hesitate. After all, Pikachu won't pull itself.
