Midjiwan has unleashed a significant update for The Battle of Polytopia: a complete overhaul of the Aquarion Tribe. This marks a substantial refresh for the game's first special tribe, originally introduced in 2017.
The Aquarion units now boast mermaid tails, making them amphibious or fully aquatic. This grants them effortless water traversal, although land movement is slower. A new flooded terrain mechanic allows land and naval units to occupy the same spaces for the first time.
Buildings have also received an aquatic makeover. Construction on water is now possible, with Lost Cities nestled within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal bases for seafaring warfare. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops, now a permanent feature, function similarly to land-based crops.
Prepare to encounter new sea creatures! Sharks provide surprise attacks, puffers offer long-range bombardment, and jellies deliver electric shocks. Returning favorites include the Tridentons and Crabs, the latter now flooding tiles they traverse, synergizing perfectly with the mermaid-tailed troops. See it in action:
Midjiwan has revitalized the Aquarion Tribe. Note that Lost Cities appear at level 3 and include an initial wall.
