Avowed offers five distinct Backgrounds: Arcane Scholar, Court Augur, Noble Scion, Vanguard Scout, and War Hero. While each provides unique dialogue options and a starting weapon (all common-quality, one-handed melee weapons), all equipment and abilities remain accessible regardless of choice.

Background Details:

• Arcane Scholar: This scholarly character hails from Bragganhyl Academy, their treatise on soul lineages causing conflict with a local lord. Imprisoned, they were recruited by the Emperor for the imperial archives. Expect dialogue options reflecting knowledge of the occult, law, history, and poetry.

• Court Augur: A tragic past and mystical abilities led to accusations of witchcraft. After a village crop failure, they fled to Highcrown, becoming the Emperor's personal mystic. Expect dialogue choices aligned with spirituality and the Gods. Ideal for players envisioning a wizard archetype, and potentially a strong connection with the companion Giatta.

• Noble Scion: The Living Lands' equivalent of a privileged but morally flawed noble. Their family's downfall led them to seek the Emperor's favor. This Background is perfect for players wanting to remain loyal to the empire.
