Despite Avowed's expansive Living Lands, its main quest is surprisingly concise. For players seeking extended gameplay after the credits roll, the post-game experience is somewhat limited.
New Game Plus?
Currently, Avowed lacks a New Game Plus mode. While this feature isn't available at launch, Obsidian may incorporate it via future updates or DLC based on player feedback. The absence of New Game Plus doesn't negate replay value, however. Numerous choices impact the narrative and gameplay, making multiple playthroughs with different character builds and story outcomes worthwhile.
Endgame Content?
Avowed features four main regions, a secret final area, and a return visit to a key city (details withheld to avoid spoilers). High-level Legendary weapons and gear are crucial for success in these challenging final areas. However, the difficulty doesn't carry over to previously explored regions, and no new areas unlock post-game. This lack of a persistent, evolving world after completion is a notable drawback.
Post-Game Activities:
Avowed's post-game is relatively sparse, lacking a true endgame. Upon completing the final encounter, extended cutscenes detail the consequences of your choices. Afterward, you return to the main menu.
From the main menu, you can start a new game or reload a previous save. Autosaves exist before the point of no return and the final encounter, enabling replay of these sections with altered choices to explore different story endings. Reloading to a pre-point-of-no-return save also allows revisiting earlier regions. Enemies in these areas remain at their original levels, making it satisfying to revisit Dawnshore, for example, with powerful late-game equipment.
In summary, while Avowed offers replayability through choices and revisiting earlier areas with enhanced gear, a dedicated endgame or New Game Plus mode is absent.
Avowed is currently available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.
