After a remarkable 25-year hiatus, Capcom's cherished RPG, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected on PC, delighting fans old and new. Originally gracing the PlayStation in Japan and North America back in 2000, with a European release following in 2001, and a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003, this game has now been meticulously updated for today's gaming systems.
The game follows the journey of Ryu, a protagonist distinct from Capcom's other famous Ryu, who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a band of fellow warriors, Ryu embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's sinister plans to obliterate the world.
As part of its ongoing Preservation Program, GOG has brought Breath of Fire IV back to life, fully optimized for modern PCs. This DRM-free release on the GOG platform ensures compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. Players can now enjoy the game in both English and Japanese, with enhanced graphics thanks to an upgraded DirectX renderer. New display options include Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction, significantly improving the visual experience. Additionally, the audio engine has been upgraded, bringing back missing environmental sounds and introducing new configuration options for an immersive auditory experience.
